TOUR SCHEDULE

Your adventure begins on the main beach of Drake Bay. From there, we take a 45-minute scenic boat ride across the Pacific Ocean toward Caño Island Biological Reserve.

 

Along the way, keep your eyes open, it's common to spot dolphins, sea birds, and sometimes even whales during the migration season.

7:30 AM
8:30 AM

After checking in with the park rangers, we head to one of the official snorkeling sites around Caño Island.

For about 45 minutes, you'll explore warm, crystal-clear waters filled with marine life. Swim among schools of tropical fish, coral formations, volcanic rocks, and possibly sea turtles or reef sharks.

This area is known as one of the best snorkeling locations in Costa Rica thanks to its protected waters and abundant wildlife.

10:00 AM

After the first snorkeling session, we stop at the ranger station beach on Caño Island.

Relax on the sand, enjoy fresh fruits, and take photos from the viewing platform overlooking the island and the Pacific Ocean. It’s the perfect moment to recharge and soak in the beauty of this remote island paradise.

11:00 AM

We then head to a different snorkeling site around the island.

Each location offers a unique underwater landscape, with new coral formations and different marine species.

 

This second session is another chance to see colorful fish, rays, turtles, and the incredible underwater biodiversity of Caño Island.

12:30 PM

On the way back to Drake Bay, we make a stop at the stunning San Josecito Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the region.

Enjoy the scenery, relax for a moment, and take in the lush jungle meeting the turquoise ocean.

1:30 PM

The tour finishes with a delicious included lunch in Drake Bay, the perfect way to end a morning full of adventure and ocean exploration.

WHAT TO BRING

To make the most of your experience, we recommend bringing:

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Swimsuit

  • Towel

  • Sunscreen (reef-safe if possible)

  • Long-sleeve rash guard or swim shirt

  • Dry clothes

  • For long hair: a hairbrush

BIOLOGICAL RESERVE

To help preserve the incredible biodiversity of Caño Island Biological Reserve, please follow these important guidelines:

  • Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before entering the water to reduce its impact on coral reefs and marine life.

  • Do not touch anything in the water. Coral, fish, turtles, and all marine life must be respected and left undisturbed.
